The Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) was established on 9th January, 1998. The University's headquarter is situated The primary objective of the University is to promote and develop the Urdu language, provide higher, technical and vocational education in the Urdu medium and to provide focus on women’s education. MANUU has been accorded an 'A' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Also, the University is recognized and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

MANUU has six Schools of Studies and 15 Departments. The University offers Ph.D., M.Phil, and Post-Graduate courses in various disciplines along with Diploma, P.G. Diploma, Teacher’s Training, ITI and Polytechnic Courses on campus.
